Schweigeminute – A minute of silence
My inspiration for writing short stories is without doubt the German writer Siegfried Lenz. Wherever I go I have a book with me. And in most cases a novelle from Siegfried Lenz. Most readers know Siegfried Lenz for his roman Deutschstunde, The German Lesson, but I prefer the smaller romans and novelles like Schweigeminute or Das Feuerschiff, The Lightship.
I have taken this picture from the novelle on the beach, because part of the book takes place at a regatta and on the beach. It’s love story and it reminds me of an affair I had a long time ago. An impossible love … I was sixteen and she was much older. Green eyes that radiated. She learned me sailing. Of course I was just a pupil for her and nothing ever came from it but … I still remember her.
